  1. This is a really good and entertaining episode. I love the part when Buddie Hawks dresses up as Cliff Dagger and VENOM discovers and chases him. It also has some great action scenes in the sewers, and good excitement at the end with Scott and T-Bob nearly falling down from The Eiffel Tower. The only negative thing I can find is that Vanessa’s clothes changes from one moment to another in the scene where they are reconstructing the map. One moment she is wearing a white coat, the next she is not, and then she is wearing it again.

  2. This was another good episode. One of the eight episodes that made it into Novel Format over here in the UK.

I should really re-read this novel whilst watching the cartoon to see if there are any differences. I believe that some of the novels have slightly more of a story line - not sure if perhaps if the original scripts had more in them that was then cut out to fit the 20 minute length of the cartoon.

Anyway, the first thing that I didn't like about this cartoon was the French-inspired incidental music. Ok, they have to set the scene, but this is a kids cartoon - and those segments of music - well; they weren't great!

After seeing Sly Rax's eyes last week, we have him in this episode with his glasses off for most of it. I think it's great to see what he really looks like!

Bit of mistake - Buddie goes into a public Telephone that says on it "Telephone". If we are in the middle of Paris, this should really read "Téléphone". Only a subtle difference - but was noticeable!

One of the best parts of this cartoon was getting to see Buddie utilise his Master of Disguise skills. He used them quite a lot in the UK Comics but can't remember him using them overly much in the Cartoons.

One thing I was confused by - he dresses himself up as Cliff Dagger to infiltrate the V.E.N.O.M. hideout - so why didn't he just go in the front door? Surely if he had been caught making the entrance he did with climbing up walls and using a zip wire - wouldn't the rest of the V.E.N.O.M. crew find this strange?

I did also noticed one of the buildings move slightly as he went down the zip wire - just a little animation glitch!

However, if there was one thing that really annoyed me about this episode - it was the footstep sound effects! Especially when Buddie was running around dressed as Dagger and everyone chasing him.

Was there really any need? Very off putting!

  3. Hi ... NetDweller here,

    I felt this wasn't a great episode.
The storyplot itself wasn't bad but there were just to many things that made me roll my eyes.

First a minor one. About the top shots of Paris. I've been to Paris a couple of times and it does NOT have a lot of parallel streets and the buildings aren't grouped together in same size square "blocks". That's a typical American style of building. If the background artist had bothered to pull up a map of Paris he would have seen that.

When the fence is coming down on Buddy while escaping the VENOM hide-out, Matt get's out of Thunderhawk, get's into Nightstalker and uses the spare tire to keep the gate open. He could have just driven a little further and pulled Buddy from under the gate. You need some pretty nifty calibrations to get that spare tire to end up in exactly the right place. It felt to elaborate.

During the sewer chase Sly and Dagger's aim is about as bad as the stormtroopers in "A new Hope" and Matt and Buddy aren't even manoeuvring to evade. Case in point: when Dagger is using his torch mask to fire at Buddy while he's coming straight at him.

Nightstalkers main gun that Buddy uses to fix the Eifel tower doesn't FUSE the metal together, but actually restores the structure of the pillar. Then a couple of seconds later he uses the same gun to shoot at VENOM vehicles. Now ... if he hits them, would he fix their cars as well??? lol

The worst thing though is how Matt and Buddy retrieve the detonation device from Miles. THEY CAN"T BECOME SOLID FOR EVEN A MILLI SECOND WHILE THEY'RE PHASING THROUGH SWITCHBLADE!!! THEY'D FUSE TOGETHER. (sorry about the yelling ... I got a little excited :)

I'm probably way to critical and when I was a child most of these things probably wouldn't have bothered me, but this ep. doesn't hold up for me.
I really like M.A.S.K., though and I hope my future comments will be more positive.

p.s. I like your podcast, though.
