Hasbro Confirms M.A.S.K. Included In New Multi-Universe Film Project With Paramount

It's official! M.A.S.K. will be in a live-action feature film! According to today's press release, Hasbro has inked a deal with Paramount Pictures to create a multi-universe film including G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Visionaires, Micronauts, and ROM.

Hasbro's All Spark Pictures will continue their partnership with Paramount who previously teamed for the Transformers and G. I. Joe series of films which have generated almost $4.5 billion total to date.
"Paramount and Hasbro have had a longstanding relationship and we're proud of the success we've enjoyed on the 'TRANSFORMERS' and 'G.I. JOE,' franchises," said Brad Grey, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures. "We're excited to grow our agreement and make even more movies based upon these popular and powerful Hasbro characters and their worlds."
"Hasbro and Allspark Pictures put storytelling at the center of everything that we do. These brands are filled with memorable stories and vivid characters, and this Universe creates a framework for how they will become interconnected," said Brian Goldner, Chairman, President and CEO of Hasbro. "Extending our partnership with Paramount allows us to continue our long-term strategy and overall vision to build dynamic worlds for all of our brands, and we are thrilled to collaborate with them as we develop these properties."
The announcement comes with no time frame, but did include that the partnership will assemble a writer's room to develop the script(s) for the project.

This is exciting news for M.A.S.K. fans hoping to get a live-action movie. The multi-universe film will reintroduce the franchise after 30 years and could potentially lead to a spinoff film that Agents of M.A.S.K. has been wanting for a LONG time! I know this isn't the announcement that we truly wanted which would have been a stand-alone M.A.S.K. film coupled with a new toyline, but at this point, we will take it! This is also the first time I've heard that Visionaires included in any news so this could be interesting.

I'm excited to hear what our fellow fans think so speak up in the comments!

  2. Well, at least they didn't include their series of live-action giant robot travesties in this shared universe.

G.I. Joe was the better handled of the two series when adapting them, and it makes a decent point from which to introduce M.A.S.K. I don't know enough about Micronauts and Rom to really comment on how well they will actually fit, but based on the very little I do know, they wouldn't be too out of place and could work reasonably well.

The odd one out here is Visionaries. The whole premise is an end to science and a revival of magic. I don't see that working too well in a shared world with the others. Unless they plan on using Rom as a bridge between two different planets: Earth and Prismos.

It sounds like, like DC and WB, they're kind of hoping to create a Hasbro centric movie-verse similar to Marvel's. I just hope they don't rush things the way DC/WB seem to be.
