IDW Reveals MASK #1 Cover And Subscription Variant Featuring Trakker And Mayhem

IDW has released their November 2016 solicitation which previews the new M.A.S.K. series by writer Brandon Easton and artist Tony Vargas as their "Gem of the Month". The preview shows us the official cover of M.A.S.K. #1 as well as our first look at one of the subscription variant covers. CBR has also released full images of the two covers:

The regular cover for M.A.S.K. #1 is by Tommy Lee Edwards who teased the image awhile back. It gives a glorious look at classic vehicles along with what I call a "throwback" logo featuring the M.A.S.K. acronym spelled out. The subsciption variant cover by Joe Suitor showcases the "new bold era" look for Matt Trakker and Miles "Mayhem" Manheim. The November solicitation also gives this setup:

Launching from the events of REVOLUTION! The M.A.S.K. team streaks into a dangerous, unstable landscape of dark wars, high intrigue and non-stop action where they'll encounter the nearly instoppable threat of Miles Mayhem and his black ops squadron known as V.E.N.O.M. How will an untested Matt Trakker lead M.A.S.K. through a complex new world order where nothing is what it seems? Join writer Brandon Easton (Marvel's Agent Carter), artist Tony Vargas (Rot and Ruin) and cover artist Tommy Lee Edwards for an exciting 21st century spin on the classic series where "illusion is the ultimate weapon!"

The preview also details 5 more variant covers, in addition to the regular and sub variant seen above:

  • Tommy Lee Edwards (REG)
  • Joe Suitor (SUB)
  • Andrew Griffith (SUB)
  • Blank Sketch Variant (SUB)
  • Sara Pitre-Durocher (RI)
  • Sonny Liew (RI)
  • Paul Pope (RI)

Wow! Can't tell you how excited I am for November to get here! The new sub variant cover gives us not only a good look at the characters but also their masks! I feel like Tony Vargas has really got the color schemes down perfect. So far it seems like a nice mix of old and new. Now, I'm even more anxious to see some of the new vehicles!
